Hurricane Katia Category 3Hurricane Katia Category 3, Katia hurricane has weakened to a Category 3 storm as it moves across the Atlantic Ocean shortly after becoming a Category 4.

U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said maximum sustained winds early Tuesday Katia has been reduced to about 125 mph (205 kph). The hurricane center said some fluctuation in strength is possible in the next 24 hours, followed by slow decline.

Katia forecast maps show turn to the northeast, away from the U.S. in the next week, but the hurricane center said the hurricane tidal waves could affect the East Coast, Bermuda, the Greater Antilles and parts of the Bahamas during the next few days.

Katia is located about 400 miles (645 kilometers) south of Bermuda and moving northwest near 10 mph (17 kph).
