Hugh Jackman, Hugh Jackman will star in the thriller Prisoners, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Denis Villeneuve will direct the project, which has a screenplay by Aaron Guzikowski. The film will focus on a small-town carpenter (played by Jackman), whose daughter and best friend are kidnapped, and when the authorities are unable to find the pair, he takes the law into his own hands.

Jackman was seen earlier this season in Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway and won a Tony Award for The Boy From Oz. His other stage credits include A Steady Rain, Oklahoma!, and Sunset Boulevard. As previously announced, Jackman is slated to return to Broadway during the 2013-2014 season in the musical Houdini.

On screen he has played Wolverine in The X-Men films and, as previously reported, will star as Jean Valjean in the forthcoming film version of the musical Les Miserables.
