Houston Bodyguard Box Office Grammy, Pop singer Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48. Houston’s publicist confirmed on Saturday that Houston died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown. Beginning in the mid-80s, Houston racked up a string of best-selling songs and albums.
She also branched out into movies, scoring box office hits with “The Bodyguard” and “Waiting to Exhale.”
Houston was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, and also a cousin to 1960s pop/soul star Dionne Warwick.
Houston’s death came on the eve of music’s biggest night — the Grammy Awards. It’s a showcase where she once reigned, and her death was sure to cast a heavy pall on Sunday’s ceremony.
News of Houston’s death swept through the Internet as celebrities responded with shock and sadness:
