Hill Inlet, Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island

September 20, 2012 by staff

Hill Inlet, Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island, One of the most picturesque settings in the Whitsundays is the Hill Inlet estuary which winds deep into the centre of Whitsunday Island. The swirls of sandy yelllows and turquoise blue waters contrast the natural green hillsides and frequently blue sky. Stretching off to the South, is Whitehaven Beach, with its 7 kilometres of pure white silica sand curving around to Solway Passage and Hazelwood Island.

The best way to observe this is from the Tongue Point lookout, which is a “must have” portrait backdrop for your holiday snap collection. The look out is a 20 minute easy walk from the beach.

Pacific Sunrise gets to this magnicifient setting by anchoring in Tongue Bay, just to the North. Protected from all Southerly winds, Tongue Bay is the home for many turtles. These are frequent company during sunset drinks, and await the early risers.
