Hilary Swank Dropped By PR Firm After Chechnya Appearance, Hilary Swank has reportedly been fired from her PR company in the wake of her controversial appearance at the birthday party of Chechen president Ramzan Kadyrov.

According to a US gossip site, the Academy Award winner’s PR firm, 42West, has parted ways with the actress over a disagreement on how best to deal with the media storm that has since ensued; after Swank was criticised by human rights groups for making the paid appearance last month.

Following the controversy, the actress – who scooped the Best Actress gong at the 2005 Oscars for her role in Million Dollar Baby – apologised for attending the event, promising to donate her fee to charity.

She also denied personal responsibility for her appearance, claiming that she would not have gone if she had “full understanding of what this event was apparently intended to be”.

Neither Swank nor 42West have yet commented on the split, which comes just one week after the actress fired her manager of eight years, Jason Weinberg.
