Offensive Player of the Week

Anthony Garza, Brackenridge, QB, senior – completed 24 of 39 passes for 462 yards and five touchdowns in 38-27 victory against Lanier. Four of his touchdown passes were 40 yards or more.

Defensive Player of the Week

George Schwanenberg, Smithson Valley: Defensive Tackle, junior – had four sacks in a 41-15 victory against Alamo Heights. The Rangers forced three turnovers, including two interceptions by Aaron Potter.

Best bets this week

Judson vs. Steele: 7 pm Thursday at Rutledge Stadium – a game that was moved to Thursday so it could be broadcast on Fox Sports Net Southwest, this is the fifth game Steele televised live from the start of the 2010 season.

Reagan vs. Madison: 7:30 pm Friday in the stadium Comalander – District 26-5A two unbeaten teams faced with the Rattlers have won all their matches in the district at least 28 points.

Week 7 game balls

Tommy Armstrong: QB Steele ran for 165 yards and three touchdowns and completed 10 of 14 passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns in 35-16 victory against New Braunfels.

Isaac Cervantes RB Lanier ran for 314 yards and four touchdowns in 38-27 loss to Brackenridge.

Tyreese Davis: RB Cole rushed for 231 yards and five touchdowns on 10 carries and only returned an interception 73 yards for another score in the 62-28 win against Natalia.

Hulbert Adonis: Jay RB ran for 269 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Mustangs to a 34-27 victory against the return of O’Connor. Jay scored 10 points in the final 1:49 of regulation to force overtime.

Lawrence Mattison: Smithson Valley RB ran for 208 yards and two touchdowns in 41-15 victory against Alamo Heights. It was his first career 200-yard rushing game.

Billy Medford: Luling QB ran for 297 yards and two touchdowns, passed for 111 yards and a touchdown, caught two passes for 48 yards, recorded 14 tackles and blocked a field goal in 49-32 victory against comfort.
