Helen Hayes, James MacArthur, who is known for his role as Detective “Danno” Williams on the hit series “Hawaii Five-O”, died Oct. 26 at age 72.

The place and cause of death has not been revealed until now. MacArthur played the beloved character from “Danno” Williams, 11 years, from 1968 to 1979.

Born December 8, 1937, in Los Angeles, MacArthur was the adopted son of actress Helen Hayes and Charles MacArthur was a screenwriter.

He made his professional debut on radio in 1948 before beginning a career in television in the 50? S. He also played in the theater and film.

MacArthur appeared in such films as “High Hang ‘Em” in 1968 “Battle of the Bulge” with Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson and Telly Savalas in 1965, and “Swiss Family Robinson” (1960).

On television, he appeared in several episodes of “Love Boat”, “Murder, She Wrote” and “Fantasy Island” and assumed the role of Williams, who became a governor, in a TV movie inspired by “Hawaii Five-O “in 1997.
He is survived by his third wife, his children and grandchildren.
