Health Scare: Sen. Reid, Democrats Face Late Health Overhaul Hurdles:A democratic leader is facing a personal key health care crisis in his own party, while making a zero-hour push to pass health care legislation review.
The wife and daughter of the Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, D-Nev., Is recovering from a car accident Thursday that left women hospitalized in serious condition.
Reid’s wife, Landra, suffered a broken nose, back and neck. Daughter of Lana Reid Barringer, 48, has a neck injury and facial lacerations. Both are “conscious and can feel his limbs, doctors said, their injuries were not fatal,” said a spokesman for Reid.
The incident touched off intense negotiations legislative Democrats on Thursday temporarily suspended as Reid went to the hospital to be by her side. But Reid, shortly after he returned to Congress, a sign that negotiations between the House and Senate Democrats have to make or break.
