Gzip_detect.php, Today seems like a lot of Facebook users running Internet Explorer are receiving a file download request stranger asks you to download a file called “gzip_detect.php.”

At the moment it is unclear what exactly this file is, and there has been no official word from Facebook, so I do not recommend downloading the file in case it is virus or spyware related.

I have not received the download request myself, so it is difficult for me to discover exactly why this is happening, that would greatly appreciate your comments on the matter so that we can try to determine exactly what it is.

Please feel free to respond to any of the following questions in the comments section below. Have you received this application for discharge when using Facebook? If so, what browser are you using? Did you download the file? If so, the problems caused?

How to find more information on the subject that will keep you up to date, we do not recommend you download the file you just-in-case and perhaps make sure you’re running the latest version of its web browser in particular.
