Gwar Guitarist Cory Smoot Dies, The lead guitarist for the heavy metal band GWAR was found dead Thursday in his tour bus after a concert in Minneapolis, manager of the band and the record label said.

Manager Jack Flanagan and lame record label said the body was discovered Thursday Cory Smoot before the bus crossed into Canada in the band’s tour of Richmond, Virginia, is.

It is unclear what caused the death of Smoot or how old he was. A person who answered the phone at the family residence in Richmond Smoot declined comment. Kelli Flanagan and Metal Blade is Malella, vice president of advertising, said he had no more information than the release of Smoot.

Smoot made since 2002 under the name “Maximus Flattus” with the band known for its grotesque comic sci-fi/fantasy-based costumes, stage antics and vulgar lyrics. GWAR was last produced two albums.

Flanagan says there’s no word yet on funeral arrangements and the rest of the tour. The trip had been scheduled to stop in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta, on Friday and Saturday.

Singer Dave Brockie, also known as “Oderus Urungus” he said in a statement that “we are currently dealing with the loss of our dear friend and brother,” and asked for privacy.

Smoot called “one of the most talented guitarists in metal today.”
