‘Green Lantern 2′, I think we all agree on one thing: Green Lantern was not very good. Was critical not only devastated but the public is not so much love, leading to a massive reduction of GDP. Sorry, Ryan Reynolds. Sorry, Mark Strong. Sorry, fanboys DC is not looking to the future of the series.
Or is it?
THR says that the WB is planning a sequel to Green Lantern, reviews and ticket sales to the devil! WB domestic distribution president Dan Fellman is defending the film, saying it is “the solution” and that the drop in attendance at the hearing that is expected for a superhero movie. Of course, a fall is expected, but GREEN LANTERN and grossed 18 million this weekend compared to last weekend and 53 million dollars. That’s a huge drop of 65%. Ouch.
GREEN LANTERN sequel will be a reality? I doubt it. It seems that the World Bank is just to save face, as they would with any pump. This was a great opportunity and cost a lot of cash, it would be embarrassing to admit that is a failure. I imagine that the World Bank is still promising a sequel – perhaps for years – until people stop making … what will likely be next week.
