We are far from over, however: A few different companies have announced some big games very high profile IOS versions are coming later this year. First, Rockstar Games will be releasing (the now 10 year old classic) Grand Theft Auto 3 in IOS for the anniversary of the game.
GTA3 was the first title of the series to make the leap to 3D, and is a reference into the genre of open world crime that has been copied over and over again since then. The game will be compatible with the iPhone and the iPad 4S 2, to be playable this weekend at the New York Comic Con
EA Games has announced that the XBLA and PSN title Burnout Crash is coming to the iPhone, iPad 2, and the iPhone 4 later this year. Crash ‘burnout’ is an arcade title that makes the popular racing series Burnout in a style puzzle game where you try to crash as many cars as possible from a top down perspective. The game did great in the dock, but perhaps the touch controls to help her out.
And finally, PopCap, makers of the excellent Plants vs. Zombies and titles of Bejeweled, among others, have announced they are launching a new game called Dragon iOS popcorn. The player controls a dragon that can breathe fire in the corn to pop, then you can eat that corn to grow, something like the old Snake game. The screens that look … interesting – we’ll have to wait and see how it works. On the other hand, PopCap always seems to know what you are doing. All three of these are due out in iOS later this year.
