Goshen Fair

September 5, 2010 by staff

Goshen Fair, Three good days in the Goshen Fair are all it takes for American Legion Post 46 to raise enough money to fund their charities for one year.

If Saturday was an indication of what is to come today and Monday, 46 Post is on target to rake in some serious money. Post members and volunteers manned the entrance booth near the entrance to food fair and were kept hopping by a steady parade of customers in a sunny, breezy day.

“We do one thing at the fair and we do well,” said Post 46 Commander Ed Wright. “The money we make will lead us along the years.”

Post 46 scholarship funds, donate clothes to the state veterans hospitals, new plants each year flags on the graves of veterans of Goshen, and has programs for veterans recognition. It also has an active Ladies Auxiliary who works for the benefit of the community. Wright said that the post will cook 800 pounds of hamburgers and 400 pounds of hot dogs during the weekend. A few burgers and dogs were cooked by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Malloy, who stopped in the countryside during his visit to the fairgrounds.
