Goodyear Blimp Crash, The pilot of a Goodyear blimp shouted, “I crashed the aircraft” before it burst into flames, a passenger who jumped to safety, he says. Photographer Joachim Storch told reporters that the airship – The Spirit of Safety – lost his appointed place of landing at the aerodrome Reichelsheim in central Germany on Sunday night, causing your engine to hit the ground. The pilot shouted, “We’ve had an accident!” followed by “I crashed the plane!” As the smell of fire crept through the dirigible, Storch told the news agency on Monday DAPD.
Storch and two other passengers, a man and a woman from a television crew jumped to safety 2m.
The sudden loss of weight caused the ship to fire into the air, where burst into flames, killing the pilot who remained in the cabin.
German aviation investigator said Tuesday that need weeks to complete an investigation into the cause of the accident.
“We are conducting interviews with witnesses, collect evidence at the site andanlyzing images of the accident,” Klaus said Himmler, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigation. “We are conducting extensive research.”
The findings of the Bureau, is not expected to be reported for another four to eight weeks, he added.
Goodyear, who had commissioned the airship as part of an advertising campaign for road safety, said in a statement Tuesday that the initiative was to stop and leave their ship the second ground in Europe.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and relatives of the pilot, the company said in a statement.
The U.S. tire company said it has used blimps for more than 85 years and never experienced before death.
