Gold Cup

Gold CupGold Cup, For the distorted perception goal last night. U.S. was not in control. Mexico was clearly a better team and his forces attack hit the nerve of America in the back. The result was fair and expected. U.S. was disorganized, undisciplined and lost as deep as they should. This is worrying because Mexico was the only Cup caliber opponent U.S. face in the Gold Cup That was the benchmark of Brazil and saw a hapless team in chaos. The responsibility for that rests with Bob Bradley.

The back four is putrid. Bornstein substitution does not help, but, nevertheless, Bob Bradley, rearrange the deck chairs, the defense would have been a disadvantage. There should have been more coverage from the midfield. The defenders were exposed and had no chance. That falls on Michael Bradley, the coach Jermaine Jones and maintaining links with each other.

Jones and Bradley may be the two best midfielders in the U.S. have, but are very similar. Their skills overlap and unfulfilled. Instinctively, they make the same runs, select it and now cover the same space. Both have a tendency to be aggressive in the future are often in the same position and out of position. U.S. back four is horrible, but their midfielders should have done more to help. That is their primary responsibility and failed miserably. Was given a free reign like rivals in the group stage and knockout stage, only the other teams were not prepared to take advantage of it.

I’d go back to the couple that worked best in the World Cup: Maurice Edu fixed in front of the back four as a plug with Bradley in a paper a little more advanced. U.S. plays better when it is firm and marauding runs forward, but need a steady presence behind him to cover his position.

Freddy is not over. It’s an interesting change of pace, but his achievements since returning to the selection have been overrated. There is a natural sample bias when looking at him. We only see when on the ball. Stresses increase only times he did well with it. Adu is a player of technical talent in space, but also a nuisance tactics.

He does not move away from the ball, which precludes him play on the wing. It is not strong enough to maintain possession in traffic, which will prevent him playing in the middle. The teams quickly realize they can neutralize the closure and physical being. That offers nothing defensively. Freddy has no position. It’s the same dilemma teams have had with him in the MLS and each of its European destinations. He finally found a league where the game can flourish unhindered. Unfortunately, this league is the Turkish second division. He is not the revelation. Should be in the best, be a peripheral factor for Brazil.

U.S. not from South Africa has stagnated. Have receded and the team needs substantial revision before 2014. Bob Bradley was very little in the Gold Cup, which suggests that he is the man to organize. His team was consistently disorganized and unmotivated. His faults were mitigated only by the caliber of the opposition. The name opponent they faced, Mexico, crushed without mercy. The score could have been worse.

Hiring an international trainer for one cycle of the World Cup second is risky. The ideas get stale. Players become complacent and right. Confidence in what worked before the clouds the obvious changes needed in a period of eight years. Everything is confused and is reflected in the performance. One year after the holding of a second Bradley, the results are not atypical. There were questions about the competence of the first.
