Glen Coffee

August 13, 2010 by staff

Glen Coffee, Possibly the strangest news of the preseason in the NFL these days: Glen Coffee, a 49ers running back entering just his second season in the league, now abruptly retired at 23. There is no known reason.

The coffee had not been seen in practice on Thursday 49 or today, without explaining why. However, nobody could have seen it coming.

Coffee turned professional last year after his third year in Alabama, and the 49ers took him in the third round in 2009. He struggled as a rookie, averaging only 2.7 yards on 83 carries, but was in the management of backup Frank Gore.

Here’s hoping retirement Coffee is a letter – he has talent, as anyone who is initiated by an Alabama team BCS-bowl-bound ahead of the guy who won the Heisman the following year must. We have heard a story of someone emerging from temporary retirement from the NFL this year – next to the coffee?
