Girl Talk, Sufjan Stevens has back with new record, “The Age of Adz” (apparently pronounced “Odds”), published last week on Asthmatic Kitty. Always consumed companion, “Adz” Stevens is far from the sound environment of pastoral lute and flute, as originally earned him criticism on early recordings like “Michigan” and “Illinoise.” His new track “I Walked” is a multi-layered electronic kaleidoscope, available for free download today courtesy WNYC.com. Listen or download below. Stevens also plays tonight in New York at the Beacon Theater.
Girl Talk has finally released his follow-up to “feed the animals.” This is called the “All Day.” In a move that makes Radiohead’s pay-what-you-want release of “In Rainbows” look downright miserly, Gregg Gillis is the thing to give for free. Yep, everything. Do not even pay that man – he will not take your money. Just follow the link to the Illegal Art website and download it – legally.
Finally, Sharon Van Etten plays a set of NPR’s Tiny Desk series. Van Etten’s new record “Epic”, released in October on Ba Da Bing. “Epic” the down-tempo, moody tunes will be perfect down to congratulate the buzzy high Girl Talk “All Day.” Think of “All Day” as the Monday morning coffee, and Van Etten Tiny office show that your wine on Monday night.
