Geraldo Rivera Apology

Geraldo Rivera Apology, After learning about a petition calling for an apology, media personality Geraldo Rivera, readily offered one for comments he made last week about the Trayvon Martin case. “I deeply apologize for any hurt I caused-that is not my goal or intent,” wrote Geraldo, via Twitter.

Although he apologized for any hurt feelings, he did not retract his comments. Geraldo caught a lot of flack last week when he intimated that Trayvon’s style of dress, particularly his hoodie, led George Zimmerman to believe the 17-year-old was a threat.

“His hoodie killed Trayvon Martin as surely as George Zimmerman,” Geraldo tweeted on Thursday after sharing those thoughts on a Fox News program.

While many disagreed with Geraldo, he said many minority moms took his side. “In the avalanche of criticism how interesting that most minority moms back me because they want their sons to live long and prosper,” he said, noting that his own son didn’t take that stance. “My own son just wrote to say he’s ashamed of my position re hoodies-still feel parents must do whatever they can to keep their kids safe,” he wrote.
