Bush, the 43rd President of the United States had a scandle for co-owned the Texas Rangers baseball team before returning to politics in a campaign for Governor and he was also engaged in illegal insider trading.
Prior to his election as President in 2000, Bush held numerous other positions, including oil executive, a Major League Baseball franchise owner, and Governor of Texas.
In 1978, he made an unsuccessful run for the U.S. House of Representatives.
Bush’s public role generated valuable goodwill and reinforced name recognition throughout Texas that was already high as he had the identical name as his father who was President during this era.
