Gary Moore, (UKPA) – acolytes of the former guitarist of Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore paid tribute to a “great player and good guy” after his death on holiday in Spain.

The 58-year-old, originally from Belfast, was found dead in a hotel on the Costa del Sol in the early hours of Sunday.

Thin Lizzy founding member Brian Downey said he was surprised by the news.

“I am in total shock,” he said. “There will always be in my thoughts and prayers and I can not believe he’s gone.”

After his time with the Irish rock band, Moore went on to forge a successful solo career and is still actively touring.

His death was confirmed by a poignant message on the official website of the Star “It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce that Gary Moore has died while on holiday in Spain last night,” he said.

“Our thoughts are with her children, family and friends at this sad time.”

Despite his solo enterprises and numerous collaborations with other groups and artists, its time to Moore with Thin Lizzy he will be the best memory.

He joined the group in 1973 after the sudden departure of guitarist Eric Bell, but only played with them for four months. Four years later he returned and continued to play Black Rose album.

Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham said he was happy to share a stage with him.
