Gacy Victim Identified, Police in Illinois have identified one of the victims of notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Previously known as Victim 19, police in Illinois have identified the remains of William ‘Bill’ George Bundy. His identity was uncovered after his family submitted DNA swabs, the Cook County Sheriff’s office said in a release Tuesday. Police said a tip line helped police connect with Bundy’s relatives as well as a friend.

Bundy was reported missing in Oct. 1976. He was on his way to a party when he realized he had forgotten his wallet. He returned home and was never seen again.

Bundy was known as Victim 19 because he was the nineteenth body pulled from a crawl space in Gacy’s Chicago-area home when police raided the residence in 1978.

Gacy — known as the Killer Clown because he also volunteered at fundraising events dressed as Pogo the Clown — murdered at least 33 young men during the 1970s. Investigators recently reopened the case, hoping to put identities to the bodies of eight of the young men who were never identified.

Gacy was executed by lethal injection on Nov. 14, 1984.
