Friday The 13th Superstitions, (CBS) Friggatriskaidekaphobia sounds naughty, but is simply the word used by psychologists to describe one of the most widespread superstitions:

The fear of Friday the 13th, aka “Black Friday.”

Friggatriskaidekaphobics worry that bad things could happen every time the land thirteenth months on Friday, as it does today and up to three times a year.

Those who fear the number 13 on alternate days of the month is said to triskaidekaphobia.

The limited evidence on the issue seems to indicate that Friday 13 is not more dangerous than any other day of the year.

Consider traffic accidents. In 2004, scientists at the University of Helsinki examined the statistics of accidents and found that fatal car accidents were more common on Friday 13.

“There were no significant differences in all examined aspects of injuries caused by accidents among three Fridays, either in women or men,” the researchers concluded.
