Fresno Teacher Drug Charge

Fresno Teacher Drug Charge, A Fresno teacher arrested on charges of drug possession has found herself in trouble with the law again. 53-year-old Dorothy Ramirez was arrested early Wednesday morning on new drug charges. Deputies reportedly found cocaine inside a car that she was sitting in with a parolee.
Ramirez was previously arrested in early September for allegedly bringing meth onto an elementary school campus. She denied the charges.
Attorney Charles Magill says his client is embarrassed and humiliated by everything her family’s been through since her first arrest.
“This is not a woman who’s victimizing people. This is a woman who’s being victimized by her addiction,” said Magill.
Magill says it’s clear his client has a drug problem after her latest arrest.
Investigators say a deputy stopped to check on a Chevy Impala just after midnight Wednesday near Millerton Road and Sky Harbor Road, located near Table Mountain Casino. Ramirez and Leeroy G***z, 29, were inside the car, investigators said. G***z is an acquaintance who was on parole, they added.
“They were parked there on the side of the road. I don’t know for what reason, but the deputy felt it necessary that they needed to be checked,” said Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Curtice.
Curtice says investigators found cocaine on both Ramirez and G***z and took them into custody on drug charges.
Ramirez faces an additional felony charge for being out on bail when the arrest was made.
She was arrested in September for allegedly bringing drugs into her kindergarten classroom at Easterby Elementary School.
“We still deny that she ever took narcotics onto campus,” said Magill.
Ramirez was riding with a suspected robber when deputies pulled them over on September 7th and reportedly found meth in her purse. She has denied all of the charges, plead not guilty in court, and posted bail.
“Clearly with a second arrest, it is in indicative of a woman who has a drug issue that she needs to address. And hopefully that’ll happen over the Christmas season,” Magill said.
Magill says investigators only found cocaine on G***z during this latest arrest.
A spokeswoman for Fresno Unified says Ramirez continues to be on unpaid administrative leave. She’s taught for more than 20 years.
Ramirez is scheduled to appear in court again next month on charges related to her first arrest.
As of late Wednesday afternoon, no charges had been filed against her for this latest arrest.
