Fox 5, Saturday, more than 3 million Cablevision customers were blacked out channels after News Corp. blocked channels over a programming fee dispute with Cablevision, the blackout hit New York area customers of Fox 5 and My9, according to a Cablevision reported.
“Cablevision News Corp. calls for the immediate Fox 5 and My9 Cablevision again and submit to binding arbitration under a neutral third party to reach a fair agreement,” he said.
Cablevision said that Fox (owned by News Corp) demanded too much money and the two companies could not reach an agreement.
“In a tough economy, it is unfair and wrong for News Corp. to require a large increase in rates for customers of Cablevision on Channel Fox 5 and My9 – and threaten to pull the plug if you do not get what they want,” Cablevision said in a statement.
Fox said he needed the money to provide quality programming.
“Our position in these negotiations is entirely reasonable – we are simply asking for fair compensation for the value and offers My9 FOX5 programming,” Fox said in a statement
Cablevision states that are paying more and $ 70 million a year for Fox programming, and want to enhance and $ 150 million.
