Fond Du Lac, FOND DU LAC – A Fond du Lac police officer was shot in a standoff with an armed suspect on Sunday morning and is now in critical condition. The suspect was found dead Sunday afternoon holing the house for several hours. Response teams from a number of different departments descended on the scene of a house on S. Lincoln Ave. shortly after the Fond du Lac police responded to what they called an “appeal to high-risk” at about: Sunday morning.

A policeman stood in the parking lot near the DD & tavern when he was shot by a man for one of the windows of the house’s second floor, a witness told the Fond du Lac Reporter.

“Shortly after his arrival on the scene, officers shot a suspect,” Fond du Lac spokeswoman Julie Koenig police said in a statement. “Officers are still on the scene. N

Bystanders told TODAY ATM that three other policemen and a woman were safely extracted from the home and the suspect is now believed to be alone inside the building.

During a news conference, Fond du Lac Police Chief Tony Barthuly confirmed that there was “an officer involved shooting,” but declined to give details.

“A shooting took place in the city of Fond du Lac involving police officers,” he said. “The situation has not yet been resolved. Please respect the privacy of our officers and their families during this critical period. We owe our team to do the right thing. We also wish to thank the community for their continued support. ”
