Florida Department Of Corrections, TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The prison system in Florida has received a federal grant and 740 thousand to train prisoners in installing solar energy panels.

Corrections Department officials said Friday that the training program was established in Sago Palm Work camps in Palm Beach County.

The camp is one of the three that offers inmates, who have three years or less in the rest of their sentences, with education, training and treatment to better prepare them to find work when they are released.

The State will partner with an accredited technician who carried out the formation of photovoltaic systems to power medical certificates.

The program will include a mobile demonstration module for practical training.
