FIREFIGHTERS RESCUE TRAPPED KITTEN, Rescue efforts were under way Thanksgiving morning to save a trapped kitten heard meowing several feet down an old electrical plastic pipe, according to El Cajon city officials.

“One of our fire fighters pulled the cat out with a makeshift catchpole. Fire department did an awesome job!” Capt. Redman said.

Emergency Animal Rescue, Heartland Fire and Rescue and El Cajon Police responded to a call at the Southeast corner of Washington and Avocado Avenues in El Cajon.

The incident was first reported at 4 a.m. on Thursday. The kitty was rescued at 11.45 a.m.

“If the owner cannot be located at scene, the kitten will be taken to the El Cajon Animal Shelter to be examined for any injuries and later made available for adoption,” said Zech.
