Felicia Snoop Pearson, Felicia “Snoop” Pearson pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy to sell heroin, seems a good time to catch up with some of the other cast members of the Baltimore-based series are doing.
And two of the best actors of the series, Dominic West and Idris Elba, are about to help launch a prestigious showcase for theater and the BBC America series next week.
On August 17, BBC America is the introduction of a franchise called Dramaville will serve as a showcase for the best dramas and British films. The accounts of the network as “the home of innovative British theater.” Elba, who played Stringer Bell with such power and grace, will host.
If you need an old-school model to help you get your head around the concept that PBS “Masterpiece Theatre” and the late Alastair Cooke. He said “old school”.
Elba will also be presented only in the series when his detective series “Luther” returns in September. The performance has won a lead actor Emmy nomination Elba.
But here’s the news that I find most interesting: BBC America will start on August 17 Dramaville with a new six-part mystery and suspense, “La Hora”, starring Dominic West, also known as Jimmy McNulty in “The Wire”. And the West is great in the role of a presenter on a news program on the BBC in the early 1950.
The series is also excellent. Think “Good Night and Good Luck” George Clooney’s feature film version of Edward R. Murrow ‘s days at CBS News in late 1950, with a bit of “Mad Men”, released in Yes, no sex, sexism and tons of water and smoking, and people desperate to advance their careers. Plus, you get tons of a social class system in ruins after World War II Britain.
I’m very, very, very impressed by the performance of the West in this series. BBC America made three of the six hours of availability, and I ran through them like a quart of mint ice cream on a hot summer night. And after three hours, still do not quite know what to do with the character of the West, Hector Madden. But he and the producer younger woman who is his boss – and what is happening between them fascinate me.
The cast of this series is off the charts: Romola Garai, Whitshaw Ben, Tim Pigott-Smith, Juliet Stevenson, Julian Rhind-Tutt and Oona Chaplin. The latter plays the wife of West.
I’ll have more of this in a Sunday print column will also be posted on this blog. But you cannot talk about the former cast members of “The Wire” without mentioning Wendell Pierce.
What a whirlwind of hard work and well.
Here is a sampling of tweets Pierce for five days in his career:
“Please read about the work I’m doing with the Classical Theatre of Harlem” to reopen with “Henry V”
“I’m shooting with Jason Stratham Parker, Jennifer Lopez,” Micahel Chilis and Nick Nolte. First day tomorrow. ”
And then there is Wendell Pierce, CITZ active in New Orleans and the United States. He is opening grocery bill farm fresh food in his hometown, and yesterday, Twitter on the meeting with President Obama on other issues.
Eleven hours, Pierce also retweeted Idris Elba, who wrote about the riots in the UK: “… I’m in London and this is (expletive) the demonstrators and rioters are not the same people and stupidity”
“London Come This is not! Reserve this (expletive)!”
