FB & Free Speech, The capacity for communication between teachers and parents is complicated by limited physical access that teachers have with parents, students and community. Many variables come into play during the school day where the exchange of information, resources and data from teacher to parents. Use of technology has changed from occasional use to an absolute necessity in the Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 environments soon.

The disadvantage of using technology is the relationships that have developed inappropriate and unprofessional comments teachers through electronic messaging such as blogs and other technologies. Teachers have implemented the use of online social resources (Social Media and social networks) that enable connections outside the traditional school. Two resources are blogs and Facebook: A blog is defined as an online presence or website, updated by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descripteions of events, opinions and debates on various topics. There is an interactive component that can be deployed in Blogs, graphics and videos can be shared on blogs to provide interactivity. Facebook is a social networking site to connect with several people. The key component is the ability to share content effectively and add value and relevance to information.

Blogging allows teachers to use a web based resource to share expectations, curriculum guidelines and other elements that parents can follow to know what is happening in the classroom and follow the academic progress of their children. There are professional and nonprofessional aspects of information exchange and like with any common sense of technology is essential. Examples of blogs and unprofessional FB entries are evident when teachers discuss the students and share potentially incite embarrassing. The question arises, should enable teachers to blog about school? When this question arises teachers are measured by higher standards than people in other professions, due to its direct interaction with children. This is why the professional conduct should be displayed at all times, teachers are “called to a greater sense of responsibility,” said a teacher from North Carolina, where several teachers were dismissed because of her blog posts and Facebook on students. A teacher in Pennsylvania in the headlines when he was suspended for criticizing the students on their FB page, calling her students “ghettofied.” Care must be taken in the content “of writing and what is at issue when referring to the student’s ability to perform in the classroom, color, culture and academic ability teaching. Need to remember that all content online is a matter of interpretation and what you can find never goes away. Content posted and shared online is a permanent fixture somewhere.

There is a First Amendment freedom of expression against the right, but how has the responsibility to be professional, compassionate and sensitive to the feelings of students and parents. The availability of technology and its “scope” must always be respected, like the early 50′s immersion television has created a paradigm in access to information. The Internet has created great changes in the availability of information, speed of information exchange. When educators we put on the screen, write something and put it online that are accountable and responsible for the content and motives. Teachers should remember that when the posts about the school should consider the fairness of the information published, whether this will encourage children or demoralize them, and that privacy may arise. Common sense issues relating to teachers should not publish things that are private and confidential information on a student. Even if blowing steam or incorrect wording TMI (on as much information) can lead to the privacy of students and their families. Words of wisdom when a blog on the classroom, if you feel comfortable saying that parents and public, then you should be able to say in a blog or FB.

Teachers are in positions of supervision during the working day second only to parents and guardians real. (Teachers, Facebook and Privacy blog) technology serves as a tool for learning, academic growth and communication, the Internet may require the close collaboration of parents and teachers when used correctly. There are many sites of educational value that can be used for learning purposes. These sites of learning should be shared with parents who are related to what students are studying in class. Technology in schools is broken walls and allows opportunities for collaboration, especially with parents. Teachers should always be cautious about their online content, especially if it relates to their work with students. As I learned from the experiences of other teachers, and errors, especially in her personal life does not concern her professional life at school. If you have any opinions about the students and parents that it is better not to publish them online or write about them. When teachers were sacked for their comments on Facebook and blogs about school in North Carolina Tom Hutton, a lawyer for the National School Boards Association said: “This is a new frontier in education, where technological and social norms are overcoming the law and politics. ”

Teachers should not students be Facebook friends, share tweets from Twitter or students must be mentioned in the personal blogs that can embarrass or humiliate. The potential is too dangerous professionally. Many school districts have no policy on blogging and social media; if something is misinterpreted the teacher is out and can be fired or disciplined. From my experience as a user of Blogger and Social Media and social networks, if you put something on the Internet that someone will see it, if misunderstood or seen as inappropriate finally someone report. Be smart, be professional, be compassionate and always be a teacher. Teachers bring energy, our words can educate, inspire or which may damage / destroy the hopes, dreams and feelings.
