The New York Times reports that the owner Dunaway filed a lawsuit alleging that yesterday Dunaway does not live in rent stabilized apartment on the upper side of East New York.
Instead, the owner (who is unnamed in court documents) insists that Dunaway’s son, Liam Dunaway O’Neill, lives in the bedroom walk-up, while Dunaway maintains her current residence in California.
Standards New York rent stabilization requires tenants living in the apartment is rented as a principal residence, not as a second home.
Eviction Dunaway allow its owner to raise the rent. They currently pay 1048.72 per month and in a neighborhood where an apartment comparable runs and 2318 on average. Dunaway is set to report to the Civil Court on 11 August.
