Fans React To Don Cornelius’ Death, The death of Soul Train creator Don Cornelius sent shock waves through the media. With some who knew him coming forward to state that he was depressed about his life in the months prior to his death, it was thought that his gun shot wound was self-inflicted.

It turns out that presumption was correct, as it has been confirmed by coroner’s officials that Cornelius’ death was ruled a suicide.

USA Today reports that the conclusion came after an autopsy was performed on his body on Friday. However, before issuing any final reports, the results of a toxicology report are still pending.

Cornelius’ son, Tony Cornelius, had called authorities after hearing from his father on the phone last Wednesday morning, February 1.

“We thank all the well-wishers and the fans who have supported the Soul Train legacy. Love, Peace and Soul,” Tony had announced after his father’s death.

Washington Post reports that it has been determined that Cornelius called his son before shooting himself in the head.

Officials had ruled out that any foul play had taken place early on. However, his son had spoken out about his father’s death to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “He was not feeling well so it’s really hard to say why my dad decided he had had enough.”
