Espn Boston

October 6, 2010 by staff

Espn Boston, Moss returns to the team where he spent the first seven years of his career. Moss caught 574 passes for 9,142 yards and 90 TDs from 1998 to 2004 in Minnesota.

He left the Patriots and QB Tom Brady without wide receiver to stretch the field, which set a NFL record season of 23 TDs in 2007.

Moss did not get a contract extension with the Vikings as part of the agreement, NFL Network.

ESPN has reported that Patriots coach Bill Belichick spoke by phone to inform Moss trade on Wednesday morning. The network described their cordial conversation.

For Favre, the trade gives him a serious receiving threat that has long lobbied to acquire and he missed this season with Sidney Rice injured. Favre, with the Packers in 2007, led the team to acquire Moss, but lost to the Patriots.

The receiver will return to New England on Oct. 31, when the Vikings visit Foxborough Patriots in the game (a game that takes place only once every eight years). Fox has already scheduled to broadcast the game nationally at 4:15 pm ET.

Last game in uniform Moss New England Monday turned out to be his one in over three years during which he did not catch a pass. The Herald reported that Moss had asked the Patriots to trade him after Week 1, when there was an explosion of his contract following a victory against Cincinnati. Moss later apologized and said he and coach Belichick had cleared the air.

Moss, whose agreement expires after the season, said after a week he wanted to stay with the Patriots, but added that he thought it would be his last year in New England.

Moss to appear on Monday Night Football for the second consecutive week when the Vikings travel to play the New York Jets next week. It will probably be paired again with Jets CB Darrelle Revis, who has not played since his hamstring tweak on a TD pass, he allowed Moss in Week 2.

Moss will be just the second player to appear on WWF back to back. Keith Browner played for the San Francisco 49ers against the Giants in New York October 5, 1987, then played for the Los Angeles Raiders against the Denver Broncos on October 12th (via ESPN and Elias Sports Bureau).

Since the Vikings have had their passes and the Patriots’ is Sunday, Moss could become the sixth player to play 17 games if he plays in the rest of the Vikings contest.
