Emmanuel Sanders | KPISP,Texas seems to be doing it BIG in this year’s NFL Draft. The University of Texas alone loses defensive end/linebacker Sergio Kindle 43rd to Baltimore, defensive tackle Lamarr Houston 44th to Oakland, receiver Jordan Shipley 84th to Cincinnati and Cleveland took quarterback Colt McCoy at number 85. As a Texas fan it’s difficult to watch such an amazing group of guys go their separate ways but exciting at the same time. What’s not so exciting… McCoy becoming a Brown. You know that McCoy, the all-time winningest quarterback in NCAA history and holder of 47 Longhorn records must deep down in his little country boy heart be resenting Sam Bradford’s number one pick in the first round, even after a non-playing season.
Even still, the big news out of the third round is SMU’s Emmanuel Sanders getting picked up 81st by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Eight players in total: Sergio Kindle, Colt McCoy, Mitchell, Emmanuel Sanders, Jordan Shipley, Baylor center J.D. Walton and TCU linebacker Daryl Washington – all hail from Texas high schools.
