Elizabeth Smart Wedding

Elizabeth Smart Wedding, The 24-year-old was “beaming” after exchanging vows with Matthew Gilmour, 22, at a Mormon temple overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the island of Oahu.
She met Mr Gilmour, of Aberdeen, Scotland, while doing Mormon missionary work in Paris.
A spokesman for Ms Smart, Chris Thomas, said only the couple’s immediate family attended the private ceremony.
He said the young couple were “beaming” as they left the temple on their way to a reception and luau.
The newly-weds were to depart on an extended honeymoon after the day’s festivities, Mr Thomas said.
Ms Smart, who is now an advocate for missing children, announced last month she was engaged to be married, with a wedding planned for early summer.
But as media attention grew “increasingly invasive” Ms Smart decided about a week ago that the most private way to hold the wedding would be a private, unscheduled ceremony outside Utah.
“Elizabeth’s desire was for what most women want – to celebrate her nuptials in a private wedding with family and close friends,” Mr Thomas said.
Ms Smart was abducted at knifepoint from her bedroom in June 2002 by homeless street preacher Brian David Mitchell. She repeatedly raped and forced to wander with her captor from town to town for nine months. She was just 14 years old.
She was freed after being spotted by passers-by in a Salt Lake City suburb in 2003. Mitchell was convicted in 2012 and sentenced to life in prison.
