Eli Manning, Eli Manning was forced to leave New York Giants, AO 31-16 victory against the New York Jets team [Statistics] after suffering a bloody wound, 3 inches on the left side of the head early in the second quarter last night at the first football match played at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey

Giants quarterback needed 12 stitches to close the incision, and showed no signs of concussion after being injured with 10:45 left in the first half.

Mark Sanchez led the Jets on three scoring drives, overcoming an interception on his first pass, while playing the entire first half.

Schobel is removed

The former linebacker for the Buffalo Bills, Aaron Schobel is removed, saying he lost his hunger to play last year.

Schobel Bills released on 4 August after nine seasons. Schobel made the Pro Bowl twice and his 78 sacks in his career second in Buffalo history behind Hall of Famer Bruce Smith.

Schobel, who is said to have received interest from both the Patriots team stats [] and jeans, warm up your options for two weeks. . . .

Bills running back Fred Jackson will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken left hand, while his backfield teammate Marshawn Lynch will miss 2-3 weeks with a sprained ankle.

Westbrook to SF

The San Francisco 49ers signed free agent running back Brian Westbrook to a one-year and 1.25 million guaranteed, giving the injury-plagued former Philadelphia Eagles’ second chance that, years been seeking.

The St. Louis Rams, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins were the other teams considering Westbrook, who ultimately said his decision was not, AOT all about money at this time.

The 49ers also traded defensive lineman Kentwan Balmer to the Seattle Seahawks for an undisclosed draft pick in 2011. . . .

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin, the NFL, AM reigning offensive rookie of the year, was on the field for the first time in more than two weeks. Harvin, the grandmother of administrative officers died two days into training camp, then went on their migraine.

Knee giving Fitz

Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald has a sprained knee, but is expected to be ready for the season opener. . . .
