Eftps, The IRS has issued a warning about a fraudulent scheme aimed Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (TVET) users. The program uses an e-mail claiming that the tax payment to the user was rejected and directs the user to a web site for more information. The site contains malware attempting to infect the user’s computer.
The IRS does not initiate taxpayer communications via e-mail. If someone receives a message claiming to be from the IRS or TVET, he or she should not respond to the sender, access links to the site or submit any information to the sender. Report and identify e-mail or other phishing, email scams and counterfeit websites IRS by sending e-mail or information to the URL of the IRS to firstname.lastname@example.org.
