Edinburgh Woollen Mill

Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Peaccks buyer Edinburgh Woollen Mill today said it plans to keep the crisis-hit retailer’s central functions in South Wales, after buying the group out of administration.

In a deal signed off this morning the Scottish company acquired the Peaccks brand, together with 388 retail outlets and its logistics functions in South Wales, for an undisclosed sum.

However, the news was not good for all Peaccks staff. The shutters are coming down today on 244 Peaccks stores, with 3,100 staff losing their jobs.

Eleven of those stores are in Wales, but just 16 further job losses will be made at the company’s Cardiff headquarters as the Scottish Group said it planned to retain the company’s head office in Wales.
