Eddie Bauer, Eddie Bauer, a specialty retailer of casual clothing, outerwear, apparel and accessories for the active lifestyle outdoors, today announced its sponsorship of The Explorers Club, an international multidisciplinary professional society dedicated to promoting the field research and the ideal that it is vital to preserve the instinct to explore. The multifaceted relationship includes two new grant programs and the names Eddie Bauer “Outfitter of The Explorers Club.
As stated in 1904 by its founders, the mission Explorers Club promotes the public interest for exploration. In support of this, Eddie Bauer and The Explorers Club are launching two new grant programs: The “Eddie Bauer Explorers Club-Youth Grant,” will be awarded to eligible applicants for jobs in climate change, preservation and Sustainability and “Eddie Bauer Explorers Club-Grant for shipments” will be used to fund expeditions on climate change, conservation and sustainability.
“The stakes for the Exploration of today are still higher, and with our rapidly changing environment and the planet, the need for research and development is most urgent,” said Lorie Karnath, President the Explorers Club. “The support from Eddie Bauer, a company whose commitment to the outside is at the forefront of its existence, in synergy with the mission and Explorers Club.
Eddie Bauer started his company in 1920 and quickly became a leading provider and innovator. While it has built its business serving hunters and fishermen in the Pacific Northwest, he became the purveyor of American shipping during the Premier Golden Age of Himalayan mountaineering. It equipped Honorary Member of the Explorers Club, Jim Whittaker when he became the first American to summit Mt. Everest in 1963.
