Eat More Kale

November 28, 2011 by staff

Eat More Kale, Vermont folk artist Bo Muller-Moore is expanding his home business built around the words “eat more kale,” and he says he’s ready to fight to protect the phrase from what he sees as an assault by the Chick-fil-A restaurant chain.

The Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A chain says “eat more kale” is likely to be confused with its trademarked phrase “eat mor chikin.”

Muller-Moore of Montpelier uses a hand silkscreen machine to apply “eat more kale” to T-shirts and sweatshirts, which he says is an expression of the benefits of local agriculture.

Chick-fil-A has a long history of protecting its trademark and its lawyer sent a letter to Muller-Moore citing 30 examples of attempts by others to use the “eat more” phrase that were withdrawn after Chick-fil-A objected.
