Easy Green Bean Casserole, In my family, we LOVE Thanksgiving – and in a family of mostly vegetarians – we can’t get enough of this yummy vegetable side dish. Come to think of it, I can’t remember a Thanksgiving where my mom didn’t make her famous green bean casserole! I’d like to say that our recipe is long standing family secret that has been passed down through uncountable generations, however, we rely on the cooking expertise of Paula D for this holiday favorite. Ready in thirty short minutes with minimal preparation, I would encourage every family to add this to their list of Thanksgiving must-haves. Happy cooking, everyone!
Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Cook Time: 20 Minutes
Ready In: 30 Minutes
1/3 stick butter
1/2 cup diced onions
1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
2 cups sliced green beans
3 cups chicken broth
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 (2.8-ounce) can French-fried onion rings
Pinch House Seasoning, recipe follows
1 cup grated Cheddar
Step One – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step Two – Melt the butter in a large skillet. Saute the onions and mushrooms in the butter.
Step Three – Boil green beans in chicken broth for 10 minutes and drain.
Step Four – Add the green beans, mushroom soup, onion rings, and House Seasoning (recipe to follow), to taste, to the onion mixture. Stir well.
Step Five – Pour into a greased 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
Step Six – Bake for 20 minutes, then top the casserole with the Cheddar and bake for 10 minutes longer, or until the casserole is hot and cheese is melted.
