Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, This falls in line with DEWA’s continuous efforts to support environmental initiatives and promote social responsibility by spreading awareness, and educating its audience on the importance of environment protection and sustainable development.
DEWA’s collaboration with Emaar Retail, the premium provider of leisure and entertainment aims to highlight the importance of marine life as an integral part of the ecosystem. Through its conservation initiatives, DEWA has been pushing for measures to protect the country’s biodiversity.
“Our sponsorship of environmental programs falls within our commitment to the green economy for sustainable development initiative announced by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which focuses on promoting conservation of energy resources and preserving the environment and the planet within the framework of a long-term sustainable development strategy,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at DEWA.

Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo at The Dubai Mall holds the Guinness World Record for the largest viewing panel at 32.8 metres wide and 8.3 metres high. It houses over 33,000 marine creatures from more than 250 different species in more than 10 million liters of water.The Discovery Centre is located above the main basin and provides educational and recreational activities for visitors on the various aspects of aquatic life, and gives them the opportunity to interact with aquatic animals. The center also provides educational programs for students covering a variety of topics for the marine environment and diverse aquatic creature.
The Ocean School Education Programmes at Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo are continuously preparing pupils from the first stages of studies and even high school students, on various topics, including defense mechanisms, survival and reproduction of aquatic animals. The Ocean School Education Programmes gained huge popularity, and attracts hundreds of students from different schools. It is overseen by a number of leading experts on education, and offers useful books for students that integrate with their own educational curriculum, which makes the Aquarium, visit a memorable experience.
