Cargo Air plane, DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – AP – A plane believed to be a cargo plane crashed Friday outside Dubai, said an airport official. There was no immediate information on casualties.

Some unconfirmed reports said the plane crashed on a stretch of the road, but state news agency WAM reported that the accident was in an unpopulated area of desert.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity standing rules for the release of information to reporters, said he could not provide more details.

In October 2009, a Boeing 707 cargo plane crashed in Sudan in the desert outside of Dubai, killing six crewmembers.

Regulators in the United Arab Emirates have banned the owner of Sudanese plane, Azza Transport, which operates in the country.
