Doris Day Album, Talks retired 87-year-old performer with the singer of the Beatles from their new album, her first in nearly 20 years. Hollywood icon Doris Day will release her first album in nearly 20 years on Monday, but the retired actress, 87 years old, invited a particular musician and a friend in Caramel, California, where recently Sir Paul McCartney.
In the interview, published Thursday in the British newspaper Daily Telegraph, day and talk about her album McCartney, My heart, which includes her versions of songs by Joe C**ker and The Beach Boys. Friends also shared memories of Stella McCartney’s daughter and son at the end of the day (which appears on the album), Terry Melcher.
When asked McCartney to day by her son, who died in 2004, says, “I miss my Terry every day. … But I’m so happy that sings on the album. I used to hear him sing and he should have done more. I get mail from friends all the time saying he had so much talent and he was laid anew. He did not push. It was a good kid and I loved him. ”
McCartney replies: “I knew Terry a little in the sixties and was a very nice man. But you were right, he does not push. I do not, however, come to think of it. It was a lovely child.”
Day retired over 30 years to establish the Doris Day Animal Foundation in 1978. McCartney told the Day, “was not quite sure what to expect [with their new disc] because I knew I had not worked in showbiz for a while as it has been taking care of their animals. But you look so happy and I think the spirit of the album. I think it’s very nice singing. ”
“I think their fans go crazy with it,” said McCartney. “It’s a nice album with beautiful emotions.”
