Dog Survives Gas Chamber

Dog Survives Gas Chamber, The practice of using a gas chamber to euthanize animals in some states is being questioned after a beagle escapes alive.
NBC News reports “Daniel,” a 1-year-old beagle mix who was set to be put-down in Alabama, was sent along with several other dogs to a gas chamber to be put to sleep. However, to the surprise of the Alabama animal shelter employees, the dog survived and came out with his tail wagging.
While the story’s being called miraculous, Kathy Johnson, who runs the Bergen County Humane Society, says it’s time to put an end to the “painful” animal gas chambers. She tells NBC News, “”a gas chamber is extremely painful to a dog, they suffocate, their lungs burn and then they expire….”
Animal gas chambers are legal in 32 states across the country. However, because of Daniel’s story, a Pennsylvania legislator is pushing for “Daniel’s Law”- that would prevent this form of animal euthanasia.
Since the incident, Daniel was rescued by a family.
Currently, there is a petition on Change.org to have the gas chambers banned in Michigan.
