Dog Sets Longest-ear Record, Port, a coonhound 8 years of age belonging to Jennifer Wert Boulder, has a left ear measuring 12.25 inches long and a right ear measuring 13.75 inches long – the world record for the longest ears a live dog, according to Academy Records (www.worldrecordsacademy.org).
The former world record holder was a bloodhound named Guinness Illinois Tigger, who had a left ear of 13.5 inches and 13.75 inches right ear before his death in 2009.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for most people dressed as Robin Hood: 1119 in Green Castle, Nottingham, UK.
Puerto, a dog of 93 pounds, was born big ears, according to owner Jennifer Wert. His ears were so long that the puppy could trip on them, he said.
“When I was 9 months old, was sitting in his cage, and his ears were hanging on his legs,” Wert said the Denver Post.
Port ears still attract much attention from people who want to take pictures or give them a tug, Wert said.
Coonhounds use your ears to help with the smell.
Tigger, a bloodhound from Illinois who died in 2009, still holds the world record for most ears ever. One was 34.29cm long, the other 34.92cm long.
