Dirt Bike Games, The future of mobility on two wheels is all about power, and Zero Motorcycles opens. Zero is the world leader in electric bikes, and they plan to double their production capacity in 2011.

Zero plans to build a new motorcycle plant near their headquarters in Santa Cruz County, which will double their production capacity.

“With this new expansion, we reaffirm our commitment to building the best electric bikes in the world and create American manufacturing jobs base,” said Steve Salyer, Vice President of Operations for Zero Motorcycles. “Control quality at the highest level means personally inspect each bike as it comes off the assembly line. In addition, in the spirit of continuous improvement and innovation, we believe that the fact of our manufacturing teams and engineering working in the same space gives an advantage to both operational and competitive development. ”

With the R & D and manufacturing seated side-by-side, Zero Motorcycles hopes to simplify the integration of new technologies in their motorcycles. The new facility not only shows that Zero is dedicated to staying ahead of the curve, but also that customer demand for electric motorcycles is growing.

Harley Davidson is showing signs of improvement in 2010
A few weeks ago the MIC has published data on sales of motorcycles in the United States. The outlook was bleak. For the second year in a row motorcycle sales were in decline. But Harley Davidson chrome piece shows a glimmer of hope. Harley has shown great improvement from 2009, despite slower fourth quarter.

“Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE: HOG) reported fiscal 2010 revenues from continuing operations and 259.7 million, or 1.11 per share and compared with a profit of 70.6 million, or and 0.30 euro per share from continuing operations in 2009, “Harley said in a press release. “For the fourth quarter of 2010, Harley-Davidson reported a loss from continuing operations of 42.1 million, or 0.18 euros per share and that includes the impact of once, and 85.2 million charge for early redemption of the Company of senior notes, unsecured during the quarter. ”

Compared to 2009, Harley is a very good place right now. He fourth quarter sales were roughly even, although slightly less of their revenue in Q4 2009. Sales dropped 0.2% in the U.S., and only 1% worldwide.

Harley is struggling, as several manufacturers of motorcycles over the past two years, but Harley is still the number one retailer in America. In the fourth quarter, Harley showed a decrease of 1% of sales from 2009, compared to the overall industry decline of 14.8% since 2009.

“In the U.S., we are the market leader in sales of motorcycles on the road, not only for baby boomers, but young adults, women, African-American and Hispanic riders,” said Wandell. “In Europe, we moved into the second largest number of market shares for heavyweight motorcycles in 2010. For 2011, we plan to strengthen our position as one of the strongest brands in the world due to our concentration continuous customer-driven products and experiences. ”

After being purchased from Cagiva in 2007, BMW has taken great care to keep the core together and Husky brand while maintaining focus on the future as well.

MIC Releases 2010 Sales NumbersIn 2009, sales of motorcycles has declined drastically. Nearly 360,000 motorcycles were sold less in 2009 compared to 2008, and sales are still down. The Motorcycle Industry Council has released figures for 2010; the report showed that sales fell another 15.8%.

EICMA Show in 2010 Motorcycle Husqvarna unveiled its concept motorcycle Thousand 3. The bike, which resembles a cross between a dirt bike and a cruiser, began much speculation about the future of Husqvarna. That the risk of dirt bike manufacturer on the open road?

There are many reports that Husqvarna will leave its traditional off-road market with a series of new bikes in late 2011 or early 2012. Husqvarna’s position will not be too far from the track with its new range of bikes though, as the new bikes will probably be along the lines Supermoto.

Husqvarna, owned by BMW, is said by using the 800cc Rotax engine that does run the F800 as a base for its new range of products. The concept of STR, which was shown off in 2006, was considered the model Husqvarna motorcycles, but after the takeover by BMW, Husqvarna MV Augusta previous owner retained the rights to the design.
