Direct Air Suspended

Direct Air Suspended, Direct Air flights scheduled to take off and land at the Worcester Regional Airport are grounded.
According to the air carrier’s website, it has suspended all of its flights until May 15, saying in part, “This decision was made to address operational matters. We are currently evaluating strategic alternatives for Direct Air. Direct Air is committed to our passengers, employees, and the communities we serve.”
Worcester City Councilor George Russell says the news comes as a surprise.
“From their statistics, they’re saying Worcester was one of their better locations from having full planes in and out,” said Russell.
The situation is not specific to Worcester, either. Direct Air suspended all of it flights to all airports. Massport calls the announcement disappointing.
They say the carrier saw consistent growth in the last three years at the Worcester Regional Airport.
