Dick Cheney Documentary, He may not look like Brad Pitt, and he may not sound like Sir Patrick Stewart, but Dick Cheney is about to get his own film, just the same. Just not the film he perhaps expects.

Showtime president David Nevins announced start of production on a new documentary, The World According to Dick Cheney, at Thursday’s winter meeting of the TV Critics Association in Los Angeles.

The film will be directed by award-winning documentarian R.J. Cutler, the filmmaker behind The War Room, about Bill Clinton’s first presidential campaign, in 1992, and the docureality series, American Candidate. Cutler’s new film will profile the polarizing former U.S. vice-president’s life, from Cheney’s years as a 34-year-old chief of staff for then-U.S. President Gerald Ford, to Cheney’s eight-year reign as vice-president under George W. Bush.

“Like it or not, we live in a world defined by the domestic and international vision of Dick Cheney,” Cutler said in a statement.

Cheney, Cutler said, “is perhaps the single most influential non-presidential figure in American political history. But for all the debate that his re-emergence in the public eye has caused, the fact is that Cheney, the man, remains an enigma, and the manner in which he utilized his power and experience to become such a dominating political figure have been left largely unexplored.
