Denver Broncos Score
November 18, 2011 by staff
Down 13-10, Tebow led Denver (5-5) on a 95-yard drive, capping it by rushing past safety Eric Smith and blasting through defenders for the score. The Jets (5-5) were able to get a last chance at the end zone from the Broncos’ 44-yard line, but Mark Sanchez’s long pass was batted away as time expired.
Tied 3-3 at the half, the Jets scored the game’s first touchdown in the third quarter when offensive lineman Matt Slauson recovered a Bilal Powell fumble at the 1-yard line and fell into the end zone. Denver tied the game later in the same period when Andre Goodman returned a Mark Sanchez interception 26 yards for a touchdown. Nick Folk kicked a 45-yard field goal with 9:45 left in the game to put the Jets up 13-10 before Tebow’s heroics.
Tebow completed just 9 of 20 passes for 104 yards, but he also led Denver in rushing with 68 yards on 8 carries, including the game-winning touchdown. The Broncos finished with only 229 total net yards of offense.
Sanchez completed 24 of 40 passes for 252 yards, but he was victimized by Goodman’s costly interception. Jets running back Joe McKnight ran for 59 yards and had another 62 yards on six receptions.
