Daytona 500 Rain Delay
February 27, 2012 by staff
Daytona 500 Rain Delay, Patrick suffered a wreck in the NASCAR Nationwide Series DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. Sure it’s been shortened a few times but never postponed, never canceled, never rained out.
The 54th edition of NASCAR’s season-opening Sprint Cup Series contest wasn’t looking good when rain began in the morning and pummeled the track right at the time that 43 Sprint Cup cars should have been marauding around the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway oval.
This forced an armada of 10 jet dryers into action as teams retreated to their garages and haulers.
Some took to tweeting, others to watching golf, while broadcasters looked for interviews throughout the grounds to make up the time allocated to Fox TV’s schedule. It looked for a while like the skies just might cooperate, but no go.
